Our new site will give you the insights and perspectives to get the most from your IT staff.

Brian P. Watson, Editor, Workforce NewsWelcome to Workforce News: Your Guide for IT Staff Development! We aim to be your top source for information, insight and advice on building and developing your IT staff.

CIOs and their deputies face more challenges than ever. And with up to 50 percent of their budgets spent on staffing and development, personnel issues are always a high priority.

But mastering all the “HR” issues of IT—recruiting, training, developing and retaining employees—is no easy task. I heard about it constantly as editor in chief of CIO Insight. When I joined Workforce Opportunity Services in April, I heard it all over again. These challenges have been around as long as the IT function has, and they’re not going away.

There are plenty of IT news sites and magazines out there, but none put a laser focus on IT staff development and leadership. That’s why we built Workforce News, a free service that brings you the perspectives and tips you need to effectively manage and grow your IT team.

Check back with us as often as you can. Each day you return, you’ll find new opinions and insights from leading CIOs, IT thought leaders and other industry influencers. Workforce News will bring you case studies on successful staff development programs, in-depth interviews with IT leaders and staffers, and analyses of the latest IT employment trends. We’ll also scan the best IT news sources on the Web to bring you the stories you need to read.

So, if you’re one of the countless corporate executives and professionals who are passionate about developing your workers and building the next generation of leaders, take a spin through Workforce News. While you’re at it, share stories with your colleagues and encourage them to weigh in.

We hope you like what you see, and we hope that you’ll share your voice with Workforce News. Please don't hesitate to contact me at brian.watson@wforce.org with any comments or questions, or if you're interested in contributing to the site.

Happy reading!
